incrementing numbers

I have a file dbase for holding sequential logs for file naming.

I want my logs to be 3 digit. Starting at 000 then go to 001, 002, 003 and so on and so forth.

However when I have php increment the numbers it removes the leading ZEROS.

001 turns to 1
002 turns to 2

Any help would be great.

What you are trying to do is to change a numeric value into a string, with formatting. Read the manual:
