I want to allow or disable access to the databases by means of a username and password.
I have set up a new username and password in the mysql.db but access is granted to the user whether they input the correct username and password or not.
Do I have to remove the 'root' user from the mysql.db to get this to work?

Where would I see examples of this?

There are information about this that comes with all installations of mysql (and as I only use this myself as root, I havn't looked into it much), and I think it would require changing hosts and/or root password.

That way a mysql_connect("database","root","") wont help as its missing the right pass, that only you know...

Might lead you into the right directions tho.
