Please help - php.ini

K, I am making this kick ass web page and involved in this the user must be able to upload graphics via post method. I was really running into a wall when whenever I send a tif the server wouldn't accept the file... no explanation. So I dug around, and found out that there is a max_file_size in php.ini that is probably defaulted to too low of a size. Anyway, my PHP installation is installed as an apache module and therefore I can't find the php.ini file! Help! How do I change this variable?

I have. There is a PHP folder, but no php.ini. There doesn't appear to be ANY php.ini file on my system except in the source folder. 🙁

In researching through php.net, I quote
"When using PHP as an Apache module, you can also change the configuration settings using directives in Apache configuration files and .htaccess files."
Do you know how to do this, Allen?

In more looking through php.net... it is <drunmroll>

php_value <i>name value</i>

But, while you're here.... do you think I can just copy a copy of another servers php.ini file into /usr/local/lib and my apche server will read it upon startup?

anyway, I hope that fixed it, i'll have to test it out.

Why don't u just recompile PHP?

you don't have to recompile PHP, just go to the directory that contains the source code and look for php-ini.dist or something similar.. move it to /usr/local/lib/php.ini (or wherever phpinfo() reports it's looking for the file), and you should be good to go..

You can also copy a file from another server, but that isn't the best idea if there are some obscure parameters that deal w/ that specific server.
