Inserting Links

Hi,

In my forum that i am currently coding i have an idea. Im not sure how many of you use hotmail, but when your reading messages and theres a link inside it, it replaces the original link with (/cgi-bin/linkrd?xxx) and i want to do the same.

I think i would use the str_replace() function but i dont know how i can split up the original link and replace it with my link opener.

Any Ideas?
