how do nest " in a statement

I would like to add " to the list in the following statement.
if ($usrFtext != ereg_replace("[^{-A-Za-z.,!$<>=#","",} and so on.

How is this done?

Thanks. That worked to nest the ", but now how do I nest a backslash? Prepending a \ doesn't seem to work?

Four of them. :-)

You see, when PHP parses string, it replaces "\" with "\". This will change "\\" to "\". Then, regular expression parses it too. Now, quots mean nothing to regular expressions, but backslashes do. So, regular expression will change your "\" to "\".
