Extracting from .txt into database.

hi,

I just recently had a long userfile in text format which i extracted into a database...

when i extracted it, it worked, though when i pull the passwords and compare... ie:
if(($givenpass == $pulledpass))

it proves false... though i know they're both the same...

though if i go into the mysql table and edit the password it works... I don't get it... anyways if anyone understands what i'm saying, it'd be great if you could help... thanx...

I am not sure of in which form were the passwords in the text file but i think when extracting from the text file you may need to trim() the variable in which you have placed the extracted value...

Nikunj is right. You could have extracted usernames and passwords WITH newline-chars which means that when you compare string1 with string2, string2 has a newline ( \n ) appended.

What you could do to compare your passwords would be something like this :

if (trim($pulled) == trim($entered)) {
// ok
} else {
// failed
}

But that is not perfect, because later on you'll have to do the above eachtime you're comparing passwords.
