Session Help Required

Hi,

I'm having problems getting to sessions to work correctly. Here's the prob. I maintain a corporate Intranet site that now has to have some access limitations on it depending upon where the user is accessing it from. I thought the easiest way was use the IP address and redirect user to login or straight through depending upon result. Some smart bugger bookmarked a deep page and got round the system hence sessions. However the code I'm using will not register sessions. (I do have seesions working on another section !) Can anyone help??

I had similar problems, where I couldn't get my variables to register.
I registered the variable first, and then set it to the wanted value... so in your case:

session_register("location");
if($z == '...')
header
else
$location = "OLE"
header
else if etc etc

The session is simply a text file that is generated. So pop it open, and have a look to see which variables (if any) are being registered. (Assuming the session file was generated)

Thanks for the advice, however it doesn't seem to make any difference. When I checked the for the file it created it sometimes with the values in it sometimes not.

What's really weird is that I eventually got it working on the test server. When I moved it to the live server it stopped working. Unfortunately I had altered the files before moving and so it no longer works on the test server either 🙁

Has anyone got any suggestions on any other method to do this. i.e. Bounce people out if they come from a certain IP address and let everyone else in and also stop bookmarking?
