I agree with you that the more info a person has the easier it is to debug a problem, add features, etc... and I certainly wasn't trying to detract from the help you've been good enough to offer Calin. If there were more people in the world which helped out as regularly as the people on this board, the world would be a much better place.
However, you also need to be careful when you're giving help to give accurate info. In this case, it doesn't matter to much becuase MySQL support is default whether you use the --with-mysql option or not, but it's still giving false information that doesn't go any further towards solving the problem. Let's assume Calin didn't compile using --with-mysql. After reading your post, he goes through the full build process again using --with-mysql (which if he's compiling PHP as a static Apache process could take some time). Now, he's still back where he started and perhaps more frustrated.
All I'm saying is that you're willing to donate your time helping others, please make sure that the info you share with them is accurate to the best of your knowledge. If I'm unsure about an answer I'm going to post, I look it up in the manual just to make sure and I think it's a good practise that we all should follow.
