When selecting a option in a "pulldown"

Ive looked at some site where its posible to ex. choose language, after selecting af language the page reloads and its presented in the selected language!
How do i program this into my own shopping chart, eg. i have 3 <select> boxes with different kind of products, which of course have different prices...
And when the costumer selects the products he should in the bottom of the page have the "Total cost". without jumping to another page ?
Is this possible ?
And how ?
