pattern matching problem

Hi all,

I am trying to extract all my headings from a web page. It works fine if the heading is in this format:

<h1>My Heading</h1>

The problem comes when my headings look like:

<h1 align="center"> <font size="1">My Heading
More of my Heading on next line </font></h1>

The expression I had been using looked like:
<h1>(.)</h1>

Since I didn't get a match I changed this to:
<h1(.)/h1> This did not work

Any help is greatly appreciated, I have tried reading:

and www.php.net but have had no luck....

Let me guess: you've read your file with file() function and then you've done search on each line, or you're reading file with fgets() and doing the search along?

In either case, <h1> and </h1> are in different lines which, of course, doesn't work.

Try your regexp on $html after you get it this way:

$html = implode("\n", file($filename));
