PHP session Error

that is the error. But i cant for the life of me work out why it has done it. All i have done is put my standard session code in at top of page and it just gives me this error.

that is the code at top of page.

anyone know what that error means ?

It means something has been sent to the output buffer. Looking at your code I think the likely suspect is whitespace before the opening <?

Your error results from the inclusion of blank lines; remove all blank lines (even inside of comments), and it should work fine.

You can also address this by starting your script with a call to ob_start(), and ending it with a call to ob_end_flush(). This will buffer all your output and send the headers just before the rest of the page.

This is a common error, and though some will tell you there is a performance penalty with buffering the output, it may save you weeks or months of searching your code for that elusive extra line...

I'm still trying to understand the implications of output buffering, but in casual testing I see no performance differences. I guess I'll have to set up a benchmark that I can use under load before I'll know for certain.
