Session handling...

Hi,
I'm using the latest version of PHP(4.0.6) with Apache on Win 2000. I'm running it on port 90. I want to use Session variables to maintain a variable to check if the user is logged on or not. I'm trying start a session and assign a variable as true in the login page. but i cudnt refer the same variable to the next page. I read in the PHP.INI file that, register_globals are no longer registered in this version. so i'm using "HTTP_SESSION_VARS["<variablename>"]" to refer to that variable in the next page. but still i cudnt access the variables. should there be any changes made to the configuration page?

Please help.

I am quite new to this as well but the following came into my mind:

Did you try to assign a value to the variable AFTER you registered it? And another thing (dont be mad if it isnt true, it is just a presumption), dont you have to pass the session_id between the files in order to know which set of variables belongs to which user?

I hope some of these n00bideas help 🙂

Kind of u deathrider. but even if i pass the PID from page to page itself, it is not working.

try placing session_start(); in your first document. I don't have access to my parser, so if that doesn't work email me and i'll see what i can do when i get home(if your question isn't answered before then)

Hi Nully,
I tried all possible ways mentioned in the Web. but nothing seems to be working. I even tried a Code which was working online. It dint work still. So there shouldbe some problem in my PHP configuration file. I dint change much in the php.ini-optimized file supplied with the installation. Kindly help.
