ereg, special characters, Solaris 2.5.0

Hi,

I get a coredump on Solaris 2.5.0 everytime I use eregi with a special character(for example, copyright symbol) in php. However, php seems to print the symbol all right using a simple print statement.

On Solaris 2.6 both the eregi and print statements turn out as expected. Could someone tell me what could be the problem?

I'm using php4.0.6
