New PHP Host

Hey everyone. I e-mailed my host to make sure he has everything installed correctly, and he hasn't e-mailed me back yet. I don't have time to wait on him. I was wondering if anyone knew of any FREE host that supported PHP and MySQL without bandwidth... I've decided to learn PHP on a free host for now, and then go back later and change my domain over to another host that will give me the support I need. Also, if you know of any pay host that you think I should use for PHP and MySQL, let me know for future purposes.

Free hosts for PHP and mysql are hard to find because of the potential for untrackable abuse. A little searching will find you very reasonably priced hosts. here's one for 7.95: http://www.empirehost.com/

But if your not doing a production site, why don't you just set up your windows box to be a server and test the scripts through loopback? its pretty easy.

Hey. Could you explain how to turn my computer into a server? If there's alot to buy, then I probably don't want to get into that. Let me know something though! 🙂

just use foxserv. it's free. (of course you have to have a computer to install it on!)

I decided the server thing was too hard for me. lol. Thanks for your help though. I know it's hard to find a free PHP and MySQL host, but if anyone happens to run across one, please let me know.

Sure, go to www.xoasis.com for free PHP hosting and www.f2s.co.uk for free MYSQL hosting or the other way around is setting your own server,i.e. to test your scripts locally.
U can set your own server by installing PWS(Personal Web Server, i.e. if u're using Windows), then install MYSQL and PHP. Believe me it's easy if u're smart.

If you've got an extra box lying around, install Red Hat Linux 7.2 on it. During the install, make sure to specify all of the options for PHP and MySQL, and install Apache as well. Works like a charm. Very simple setup process.

If not, then ~$10 isn't really that much to pay. You can always sell advertising to help offset the cost (though admittedly the adv. market is crap as of late).

i use Xcalibre - http://www.xcalibre.co.uk - they charge me about 35 english quid a year and they've always been very good... also, theres one script i needed gd lib on - and i phoned them up and they put it on for me the next day

rather impressive, and they seem to be well staffed!
