write local file to server

I been bouncing thru the manual and just can't seem to put it together. I want to read a file (video) on a windows machine and copy it to a new file on the server. I can do this all day long from an URL, or upload it (as long as it is under 2MB shared server)but can't seem to figure out what I am missing to read it locally.... can this be done from the server?

Not sure what you really mean, sorry.

If you mean for your site to use your local copy, just use the formation src="c:\program files..." however remember that site viewers will have to have the file in the exact same location and already downloaded in order to view it.

If that isn't what you are asking, what do you mean? Clarify, please 😉

I would like to upload video from a local windows machine, unto my UNIX shared server, the upload limit is 2MB as set in php.ini, the videos will be larger. I have had the videographer ftp the videos to the server, this works fine but is rather shakey, as he always ftps differently and I am worried of a meltdown. I would like to build a pseudo uploader that would read the file on local and copy it to a new file on the server.

Is this possible? Do I need to put PHP on his box to get the file to copy to the server?
