Display "please wait" page on submit

I am currently trying to create a script that will display a please wiat message (and little gif clock) that is shown whilst a process is going on.

I've looked everywhere and found very little...

Here's the deal..

A form is submitted (it's an email out form) and 2 emails are sent out... one to the owner with the submitted message on and the other to the poster saying thank you...

However as the emails take a little while to send (mail() function) and I don't want people clicking multiple times on the submit button, I would like to show "Please Wait" until the mails have been sent.

I've tried various combinations of meta refreshes, header requests and http_post class.

The wait page is passing the variables and everything works but I can't for the life of me get the wait page to display while the process is going on.

Any help appreciated.

try something like this...

when they've submitted the form, the next page should look like this...

echo "Please wait while the e-mail is being sent";

$MailIt = mail("$Mail", "$Subject", "$Message", "From: $Sender");

if($MailIt) {
header('successfulmessagepage.php');

This javascript has been very helpful in preventing the "double submit"....

Cheers for both of those... but I just managed to get it working...

I actually used a variation on the first reply... I had tried it with a similar method... but the problem was that the message wasn't displaying until the mails had been sent...

What I did was:

if $send //Just a var saying "yes... send messages now
$result = sendmail(etc...);
echo $result //$result is returned as a meta refresh
else
foreach loop to transfer $HTTP_POST_VARS to component parts (from origional form) ie email_from=>[e-mail] etc
and build a query string send=1&email_from=[e-mail]&etc...
followed by html to display message and gif clock, the html in this page has a meta refresh that picks up the query string so the first part of the loop will work.

Bingo... page is displayed... refreshes itself with variables... sends mails the refreshes to thankyou or error pages.

PS If anyone has a better idea how to do any of this I would liek to know.
