Dear all,
Hi, I am facing some problems in doing the user authentication. I followed all the coding inside PHP4 Beginner for user login. But, when I ran it, it had problems in debugging.
The message said that it cannot redeclare the session_start(). What does it mean? Beside that, there is a error message, invalid SQL command for (!mysql_fetch_array ($result)). I am very headache with all these. What is the main problems actually?
Can anyone help me? Thank you.

if you can't redeclare session_start then it has been declared somewhere higher in your code, and if there is an invalid SQL command then your SQL syntax is likely invalid, strip it down and rebuild the SQL and see where it is breaking.

Check that NO CODE is being sent to the browser prior to the session_start, if tehre is then it will fail and cause errors.

About redeclare: usually this error pops up when you happen to include a file with a function more than once in one script. Since session_start() is standart function, maybe you've called some of your own functions with this name? Check it.
About NO CODE before session_start(). The common tip is that NO code includes no empty lines or whitespaces before opening <?

Also make sure you don't call functions like session_register() before session_start and if you do, then you don't need session_start because session_register implies session_start() and therefore you start the session twice...
