onClick in <a href> tag

Hello Everyone,

Just wondering how I could either assign a value to a variable OR call another function using onClick. Preferably the assigning a value to a variable.

I've tried <a href="solutions.php" onClick="$extend=1">

This doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas??

Sorry, you can't use PHP on the client-side (ie, onClick, onSubmit, etc). All PHP work is done before the person even sees the HTML page.

a href="solutions.php" onClick="<? print($extend); ?>">

actually I don't know what I was just thinking... :p Don't try that, it won't get you anywhere... Jason is right, if you need to pass a variable do it thru the url string
