select statement

$sql = "select * from content where (ereg('$keyword',content_desc)) = 1)";

Can anyone tell me if there is anything wrong with this statement.

For starters, you have one too many parenthesis (Remove the 3rd character from the right).

$sql = "select * from content where (ereg('$keyword',content_desc)) = 1)";

you are right but thats just me copying and pasting like a mad man trying to make it right.

It is still not working.

it is showing the following

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/search.php on line 301

can anyone tell me if ereg can be used in the select statement like that.

better take the value of ur ereg in a variable and then replace it in select

Some thing like this

$var=ereg('$keyword',content_desc);
if ($var){
$sql = "select * from content where $var=1";
} else {
echo "Your ereg returned nothin";
}
