spliti, eregi_replace or something else?

I guys, i have $url which can be $url=/idex.php?catstr=6 where 6 will be different all the time. now, how can i filter $url in a way that i will have $page=6 or whatever catstr= will equal to.

otherwise, how can i get the last part of $url?
