Making a page printable

Dear all,
I am also having a problem trying to work out how to create a button on my pages that will take the main content of a page and simplyfy it (i.e. take out naigation, etc.) so that I will be left with a page that is mre suitable to me printed.
I am trying to create a system similar to the one this site uses. I have some documents i have created and want to allow users to print them out.
Can someone please advise me on the best way to achive this. Or the way this site has achieved it.

If you have the content of the page you want to print in some database only thing that you have to do is print it on the screen. There´s nothing difficult ;-)

nope, they are large articles incorporating images relating openGL programs. I need a way to print the article without all the non-relevant items on the webpage such as site navigation etc.

Thanks for the advice, but I need a different strategy here. I know it can be done as I have seen other sites with this feature.
