PHP/MySQL interaction

Hello.

I'm making a script to scann a group of pages that are dynamic for certain text and spit out its name and page number. I have it working but as is it takes way to long. I got an idea to fix the load time though. I want to split my script into 2 parts. 1 part scanns the pages and loads the information into a MySQL DB and another script scanns the DB and spits out the information. Unfortunaltly I do not know how to acomplish this goal. If any of you believe you can help me please contact me.
