Should cookies not be accessible from within several browser windows at once?

As in ... if someone logs in, you store a cookie on their machine, you close that browser and open it up a second afterwords, should that cookie not still be accessible?

Or is it only alive while the uplink with that particular browser window exists?

I have cookies disapearing when i close the window i created it in ...

ideas?

cookies have an expiration time... you can set them to expire whenever you want. you are setting them as session cookies, so they die when the browser dies.

the cookie security in IE5.5 and IE6 is really bad, and has been exploited to hack hotmail and passport in the previous weeks, but there are security rules you can set with your cookie like the domain and stuff like that.

Actually, i'm giving them a 2 hour duration time.

They shouldn't be set to session styles at all 🙂

give me an example of what you would use for a cookie using a session, and a cookie using an expire time. I'm using them in an array format to store values ...

this is an example of thecookie line i've got.
it works fine, but does not stay alive for the hour it should.
