make .txt containing vars with html form

I am trying to use an HTML form to save PHP variables in a text file. The text file will then be used to determine content for the page. Basically, the text file would read like:
$var1=\"blah blah\";
$var2=\"blad de blah\";
...

Specifically, I run a youth soccer club team page and have been manually updating each teams site with pictures and news, and results, and...it\'s a hassle. I want them to be able to update EVERYTHING easily. I also want this to be a learning project.

I don\'t want to use databases because there are too many teams (about 20) and my host won\'t allow that many...and the whole database thing has kind of lost me at the moment.

Anyways, any help would be MUCH appreciated!

There are several things that you can do. Probably the easiest would be to create your txt file as a delimited file. ie:

var1:value
var2:value

The pull it in with file() and then use list/split to seperate the values.

Another method, which I'm less fond of but seems common on perl circles is to do as you have above and use eval()

Lastly, yet another method would be to use xml or wddx, but these can get to be quite complicated .
