file upload: permission problem

i'd greatly appreciate any help on this.

i have written a simple class to upload to file to a remote server. unfortunately, the server does not allow me to upload the file.

is there any way to pass a username or password so i am allowed upload the file (like in a ftp session?)

There may be a better way, but I found two solutions to this.

1. place the script in a protected directory wherein the login required to access the directory has write permissions in the target directory (the login permissions are passed to the PHP script).

2. create a directory with looser restrictions for file uploads.
