\n's in the mail() function

Whenever I send mail using the mail() function, \n's (newlines) never seem to do the right thing when used in the body of the e-mail. Specifically, everything is on one line with the \n in the middle, as in:

line1\nline2

. How would you make mail() do the right thing?

Are you using " instead of ' to enclose the text?

Can you try it in following way

$text = "This is test message for checking"."\n"."This is testing of embeding new line character in the body of message"."\n"."\n".
"Regards"."\n".
"Teena";

mail("[e-mail]","Subject line","$text","From: [e-mail])

This way it will work. I have used it many times.

When using mail()

Try this

$msg = "Senders Full Name \t : $name \n";

$msg .= "Senders Email \t : $email \n";
mail($to,$sub,$msg);

OK using double quotes seemed to do the trick. Is this like in Perl where double quotes do interpolation but single quotes don't? I hadn't noticed this before in PHP so I thought it was different.
