Showing the Most Recent Item

Hello,

I'm a PHP novice...extremely inexperienced.

My site allows people to upload their work instantly to the site. I had someone build these PHP pages.

The way they were built, it shows the person's name and how many articles they've contributed. What I'd like is to show the most recent articles written by whoever - sort of along the lines of www.writtenbyme.com or iamvalley.com.

Any idea how I should do this?

It all depends on how the mySQL database (if that's what you're using) is set up...

if theres a row in the database for an ID or Unix timestamp, getting the latest submissions will be fairly easy.

mysql_query("SELECT * FROM stories WHERE user = TGH ORDER BY date LIMIT 5");

something like that 😃

Thanks so much for your quick response. I'm on the right track...got a bit of fidgeting to do since I'm new at this.

I did get the articles to come up by date but it's showing the oldest ones first. Any clues to get the most recent to show up at the top?

all you gotta do is change your query to this:

mysql_query("SELECT * FROM stories WHERE user = TGH ORDER BY date DESC LIMIT 5");
