SESSION (HELP)

hi,
lets say that i have a list in my DB of the users the have sessions now.
but, i want to delete them from the table if they are not ONLINE, how can i know who is ONLINE and who is not.
i think there is a way by (js) ONUNLOAD
to open a window for 1 second and then to do session.unset() and delete it from the DB.
but it is not so clever to do so?
any idias?

Not clever.

There is no way of knowing when someone goes offline. Not even with onunload (because javascript is not reliable)

The only thing you can do is guess that someone has gone offline, by looking at how long this person has not visited your pages.
if a person has not requested any pages for 20 minutes or so, then you can be pretty sure he has left your site/had gone offline.

All other methods will fail.
