online users

how can i veiw the online users at my site, lets say that after they entered user name & password, they session with there user name, and then im entering it into table at the DB but, how can i know if the user isnt in my site, i mean, if he closed the browser' how csn i know?....

I dont see how you could see if their browser is closed. The closest thing I can think of is to grab a time whenever they hit a page and store it in your db. If their logging in, and using sessions, then if the session timeout is longer than the last time they hit your site, that would count as being logged out (even if their browser is open to your site).
