no, use your OS to start the script.
on unix, use crontab. on windows, use something like taskscheduler or 'at'

how could you do that if it was running on a host somwhere else where you cant access taskschedular to do that?

is there a way to use something like a 24 hour rate? such as every 24 hours this happens?

and i dont know how to do it but , isnt there a time function in MySQL?

Hi, I have the same question, but a little different. How would you do timed occurrences multiple times a day, say every five minutes? Here's what I'm doing: I need a script to check the time and every five minutes I have to call a php function. I looked at taskscheduler for Windows, but it can't do anything less than daily.

Then you'd ask your hosts system adminstrator to set it up for you.

The only other method is completely unacceptable; to create a PHP script that continually looks at the current time and does it's thing when the time is right. This is not acceptable because running a PHP script 24/7 takes way too many resources, and if it stops for whatever reason, your entire app stops.

Search the net, there are bound to be more flexible scheduling tools out there.

heres a cookie way to do what i want, but it is easy to override cookies if soneone really wants to. I think i will try to find a mysql way to do it.
