Frontpage and PHP workaround

Frontpage can be used with PHP if you follow the following sequence of actions:

1. in page view, create the file with .htm as the extension. This can also be a copy and past of the file from folder view and then open it in page view.
2. add the php script (how it's delimited is irrelevant), and save it as a .htm file.
3. close it (you were in page view). Close every document that is open in page view, if others were open.
4. Go to navigation view and place the file where you want it in the navigational structure of your web site
5. go to folders view (doing this will cause the altered navigational structure to be saved), find the file and change the extension by right clicking on the file name and selecting rename. change the file extension to .php

Now all of your links have been updated to call the .php file instead of the .htm file and your scripts have not been corrupted since you din't try to save it.

If it works for you, who are we to say you're dumb? All of us are using some sort of work-around until the ultimate php development environment comes out... i'd write it myself, but like everyone else, too stretched out on 'real' projects 😉

I still use FrontPage to convert Word Docs (Insert/File into a blank page). It's the best conversion i've found.... and i'm also not one of the dumb users....
Use what works. I use Dreamweaver, PHPedit, UltraEdit, HomeSite (rarely, the file manager's WAY too slow..), etc, etc.
