Quick cookie question

How do I make a cookie stay in a browser for days, weeks, or months? The only option I see is seconds and it seems rediculous to write SetCookie("cookielog", "hello", time() + 86400) when you want the cookie in place for one day.

well, actually, that's the only way I know of, seconds, like gmdate('U') is how I manage my user's access allotted time. When I set cookies, I set them time() + time(), that gives me ample time till expiration.

So if I wanted my site to remember one of it's visitors that hasn't been to the site in a month I have to do that in seconds? Am I missing something here?

yes, it works in I believe is called unix time stamps, which are the seconds counted after some time, or something like that. It's really not that hard to do a month, you could do $seconds=60602430; or like i said, you could do it in time()time() or +, i forgot, either way it's alot of time.

I like the 606024*30 format. I like having my code so that I can understand it just by glancing over it. This way I won't have to use a calculator a month from now if I have to make changes.
