Send greetings on spacific date ???

Hi all,

now-a-days I am developing a greeting site in which I want to give an option to send the greeting on the specific day....mean if user select that his/her greeting should be sent on day after tomorrow, then it should.
So my questions are ..
1) what is needed to provide this kind of facility ??

2) Should I use "Crontab"? if yes then how ?? can i find any Cron script for this??

3) Should I go for our own Dedicated server ?? (as presently my site is running on shared server)

4) Where could I find a PHP script to send greetings on GMT basis.

Any help would be greatful.

Yes, you should use a CRON. Unless you want to run the script manually each day. How you do it... depends on your server type. If it's a shared server, you may or many not have the ability to run cron jobs. You need to find what operating system it is and look at the documentation. The command will be fairly simple, but PHP will have to be installed as a CGI or you'll need to access it via a browser like LYNX on linux (command/text based).

php /home/you/yourscript.php

Dedicated server... it depends on your traffic. If you can get by w/out one, it's cheaper that way. You can always move later if you need more power.

All you need to do for GMT is just use the PHP date conversions to convert your time to GMT. There are a bunch of GMT functions in the manual you can look at.

could you please suggest some CRON Script sites for this job..where i can find the specific script because I don't know CRON script writing..
