Clean up MS characters at form input lev

Does anyone know of a function to do string replaces for ms currly quotes, apostrophes, double dashes, triple dots and the like for when folks ARE submitting data via a form?

It seems to me that this is the time to clean up this data before it even hits the data table.

Surely someone must have mapped this out already?

you should always always use the addslashes function on any data from a form

It will escape and special characters (like the ones you've mentioned) and allow you to add them to the database.

format = $data = addslashes($data)
