Using Credit Card Systems

Hi, I've been coding in PHP and MySQL for a while, but only from a high level - I have not had my own server or anything, I just FTP my PHP files and database stuff into a remote web server. Still using this system, I need to set up a credit card shopping cart web service. How can I do this? From what I've read, you need to have your own access to your own web server to install the credit card package. Also, could you recommend any good web space providers (of course supporting PHP/MySQL and anything else a credit card system would require)?

I don't use MySQL, although it is available at my host:

They have really low prices and great technical support. They also will let you lease space on their secure server for around $40.00 per year.

I don't use any commercial credit card system. I wrote my own simple PHP interface to authorize.net, and it is all secure and works great.
