Forms Problems

I have a survey form written in PHP that when submitted is placed into a MySQL database. The problem is quite strange. Whenever I access the file locally it works fine but as soon as I try and access the file from another machine it immediatly reboots the server! It doesn't even go through any type of shut down the screen just goes immediatly blank. I can access any other PHP file on the server from another computer w/o any problems it's just this one form. If anyone knows anything that would cause this problem please let me know.

Have you checked the server logs? I think there is an option to log all warning, errors, debug messages, etc. in php. This should be in the php.ini file. Check out those logs too.

Also,

Apache 1.3.20 is avaliable for windows. So download that and install PHP for that. This is the configuration I use when I'm on my windows 2000 machine. APache + php works great and is a lot better than IIS.

If it doesn't work under apache+php either, then you've got a problem with your mysql server or something else in the system that is causing some kind of system panic or forced shutdown.

Also, run eventvwr to see if the system logger has logged any error messages regarding this issue.

Sridhar gives some good advice - check any logs (apache or other) that give you a clue.

The other approach to the problem is to divide your form into parts. Start with only 1 field, then two fields, and so on.

Which part of the form gives you the problem?
