Alright, here's the situation...
I'm using a freeware message baord script called CyBoards (http://www.gold-sonata.com) that's not too unlike this very forum. However, I ran into an interesting situation as follows...
If a user posts a word in any of the fields to the post form (ie- name, subject, message) that is longer than the width of the table my board is in, it stretches the table forcing you to scroll.
example:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
To me this is like a thorn in my side since I'm trying hard to work out a pleasing aesthetic. What I would like to do is have the script strip of the letters in a word that is more than * characters long and replace what was stripped with a trail of periods (...). Unfortunately, I've only been coding in PHP for about 4 months and this is far beyond my knowledge. Any help from a PHP guru on how I can do this will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Allen
