socket problem

hi all,

i have a very-very big problem.
i have to write a small client script, what connects to a perl server when a change happens in a datatbase.
i can do the socket by socket_create(AF_INET? SOCK_STREAM, 0); and i can connect by socket_connect(); and send data by socket_write(); but i don't know why cannot read the server's reply.
please, help me, i you are cleverer than me 🙂

p.s. maybe here's an old topic about this problem, but i couldn't find 🙁
