date comparison

how do i compare three dates? two of which will be pulled from a mysql database and the third will be system time. the object is to take the system time and make sure that the system time falls between the two dates in the database. i.e. i have a beginning contract date of jan 2 1999 (1999-01-02)
the contract ends on jan 11 2002 (2002-01-11)
system date is jan 10 2002 (2002-01-10). what i want to do is allow this person to log into my system until the end of contract date comes. any suggestions?

Not sure this is what you want but hey, its a suggestion 😉

Look into mysql's 'timestamp' (now()+0). As I get the feeling that you are in the state of designing the database, this wouldn't be to hard to implent.

You can still get the desired '1999-01-02'/'2002-01-10' datetypes, if you want to display dates of a page for example.

As I said, ideas.
