Auth with network

I want to authinticate users against their network log-on and password, can php do this?

I do not know where to start or what to look at.

The network is all NT/2000 machines. I would like to be able ot check passwords in the same way win2000 checks them before logging in. That way, anyone who has a network uid/passwd can use this app.

if you are using iis you can use directory security. just disable -allow anonymus access- and enable -basic authentication-.

I only use linux servers.
I was hoping there was some simpleway to query the network's auth server, but I dont really know much about that.

i do not use this method of authentication, but it looks fine.
i am working with php as cgi on apache/win2000. when i write an application with nt-authentication i send the Login-Skript with Header(Location🙂 to a page on a IIS/WinNT-Machine, get the password, encrypt it and go back to the application.
its slow, but works fine for me, because my applications are independant of OS, Webserver and php-configuration.
