html page to plain text

Hi.

I am creating a news letter generator that will take HTML pages off my website and email them to the users in a plain text format. I found several functions to strip HTML tags but found that items like tables and lists loose their possitionings/formating.

Is there a way to dump HTML page as it looks on the screen to a file or a variable.

Can Lynx be used? Can Lynx be called from php?

Hi,

you can use tabs and line breaks to have it looking similar to a table or a list.
Replace something like "</td><td>" with a tab and "</td></tr>" with a line break (all with ereg_replace()).
