Prefilling HTML forms

Hello all,

Wondering if anyone out there knows how to get a PHP script (or even PERL, C++ or V😎 to prefill in a form?

I want to write something similar to those "submit your site to search engines."

Any help is greatly appreciated!

As often is the case, this is not a PHP question, but an HTML question. To prepopulate a form with a value, provide the value as HTML specifies.

<input type="text" name="foo" value="<?echo $foo?>">
<input type="submit">

Actually Steve,

This isn't quit the question you thought. I perhaps wasn't too clear.

I want to write my own URL submitter. A php (or other language) script that I can run from my server...to go out to say google and alta vista's website and prefill in the "submit your website" form and submit it. I.E. w/o my actually going to the site and doing it "manually".

So again...anyone out there know how to write a URL submitter?

Using the user-supplied info, mock up pages in HTML along the lines Steve Yelvington suggested that has all the functionality as the target sites' pages, then use fsockopen() or perhaps the cURL functions to fire them off in the general direction of the appropriate sites.

Neither you nor the user see the mockup pages - they're entirely a matter between your server and the target's.

Or you could just set the ACTION of a form on your site to the same URL as the remote site's form uses. The downside there is that you'll get their result page, not yours.

However, if the remote script checks the referer, neither approach will work.
