Remove slashes from variable?

I have an online form which has a text field available for users to provide information in. The form's action points to another php page set up to email the forms results using the php email() function.

The resulting email contains backslashes on all characters which would need to be escaped within php. Is there a way to "process" the forms output to remove these backslashes before sending the email??

You can also try turning magic_quotes_gpc OFF in the php.ini file. This configuration param escapes every variable that's submitted to the php script from the server.

Oh, forgot to point out that if you turn this off, you may have problems if you don't already escape your variables when inserting into a database and when using your variables in other "escapable" contexts.

stripslashes() does exactly what I need here.

Thanks firemouse2001! I knew there had to be a function for this purpose, just didn't know what it was.
