stripping text files, advice please

Hi All,
Quick question I've got tabualted text files with content like
| 29 0 | 7.2 2 | 7.2 14.7 67 | 0.3 14.9 163 |

| 29 1 | 7.2 2 | 7.2 14.7 67 | 0.4 14.6 165 |

Anywayz I need to strip the data, per column, per row, per entry etc. could somebody point me in the right direction to do this, e.g websites, tutorials etc.

well, if you are putting it into a mysql data base, it's easy.

first make a table with a corrisponding number of fields then use this command:
load data infile "/path/to/the/file.txt"
fields terminated by '|'
lines terminated by 'n';

if you're not using MYSQL, loop=k up fopen, fread, fgets, etc in the mysql manual.

the line should read:
lines terminated by '\n';
on windows files, it's sometimes '\r\n'
