sending mail with $variables

$message = "Your user name is $usrName. Your user password is $usrPw."

i have mail($to, $subject, $message);

This would show up in the mail as you see it above where the $usrName and $userPw are not replaced with the requested information. How do i get this to work?!

It should work like that..but personally I don't like doing it like that, I do it like this:

$message = "Your user name is " . $usrName . ". Your user password is " . $usrPw . ".";
