open_basedir problems

I am setting up a PHP photo gallery on my website - I know nothing about PHP but have been able to get fairly far in the config and setup process. However, since I do not know PHP I do not understand what the error messages mean.

This is the error I get:

Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/.atlas/dipied/doug.peoplewhomatter.org/gallery/platform/fs_unix.php on line 53

Warning: fopen("/home/dipied/doug.peoplewhomatter.org/albums/.users/userdb.dat.0","w") - Operation not permitted in /home/.atlas/dipied/doug.peoplewhomatter.org/gallery/platform/fs_unix.php on line 53

What does this mean? Is it easily fixable? Can someone explain, a bit less tecnhically, what this problem encompasses and how to fix it? I am a fairly technical person in terms of basic programming, HTML, Java, etc. so hopefully it won't be like pulling teeth. Any help would be appreciated.

Just from looking at it breifly it looks like you are trying to open a file with fopen for writing @ /home/dipied/doug.peoplewhomatter.org/albums/.users/userdb.dat.0

Check your permissions. Make sure the file is able to be written too... chmod under *nix enviroments (Dont know about Windows).

So in all cases it looks like its complaining about the same thing. Check your permissions!
