PHP Error

I recieved this error and I don't know what should I do to this thing off. Anybody who have experince with this problem pls help me.

Either that specific function is disabled somehow (does mysql_connect() work?) or you need to recompile PHP --with-mysql.

'pconnect' is a persistent connection. Unwise use of persistent connections may hog your server and cause a lot of inconvenience (read the manual), so it's likely that your host has disabled them. Contact support and find out.
