mail() trouble

I'm using the mail() function on one of my sites, I've used this lots of times before without problems.

On my site I have an if/else statement, if the mail sent, display success message, else display failure message. However, I get the failure message everytime even though this functions sends me an email successfully - any one else experience this kind of error or know what might be wrong? Here's my code:

if(mail($email_address, $subject, $message)) {
echo $success_msg;
}
else {
echo $failure_msg;
}

you forgot the headers. Take a lokk at this example from the php manual:

/ recipients /
$recipient .= "Mary <[e-mail]>" . ", " ; //note the comma
$recipient .= "Kelly <[e-mail]>" . ", ";
$recipient .= "[e-mail]";

/ subject /
$subject = "Birthday Reminders for August";

/ message /
$message .= "The following email includes a formatted ASCII table\n";
$message .= "Day \t\tMonth \t\tYear\n";
$message .= "3rd \t\tAug \t\t1970\n";
$message .= "17rd\t\tAug \t\t1973\n";

/ you can add a stock signature /
$message .= "--\r\n"; //Signature delimiter

/ additional header pieces for errors, From cc's, bcc's, etc /

$headers .= "From: Birthday Reminder <[e-mail]>\n";
$headers .= "X-Sender: <[e-mail]>\n";
$headers .= "X-Mailer: PHP\n"; // mailer
$headers .= "X-Priority: 1\n"; // Urgent message!
$headers .= "Return-Path: <[e-mail]>\n"; // Return path for errors
