paragraphs written to file on one line

Hi, I'm tired and and i just can't seem to find a solution for this problem--->

I'm having trouble with part of my code. I have a program that allows a user to input data into a text area and that data is put into a file. I need the data from this textarea to be put onto one line, but if the user puts the data into a file and there are multiple paragraphs, the data will spread out across multiple lines, which is not what i want. I tried nl2br(), but that didn't change the fact that everything is still on multiple lines in the file. Can someone help?

Example--->>

"My favorite food in the whole wide world is butterscotch ice cream.

I like butterscotch ice cream alot"

I want this up there/\ to turn into that down here\/

"My favorite food in the whole wide world is butterscotch ice cream.<br>I like butterscotch ice cream alot"

Hi Billy,

Try removing the characters '\n' and '\r', with something like str_replace().

In a textarea form element, new line characters are represented differently by different systems:

• windoze - \r\n
• mac - \r
• Unix - \n

Remove all of these and you should be fine - good idea to replace the newlines with spaces.

ie

$yourText = str_replace("\r", " ", $yourText);
$yourText = str_replace("\n", " ", $yourText);
