retain extra spaces in echo'd string

The answer to this question is probably obsurdly simple (and probably deals with HTML not PHP), but...

Is there a way to retain extra spaces when you write to the page? I need to display text files that have formatted columns (no tabs, just spaces) in the middle of a page.

I think that you will have to use the HTML   character for a NonBreakingSPace when you want to echo more than one space.

the PRE tag in HTML should do the trick. It means PREformatted and trys to preserve the tabs and spaces. Surround the content with a < PRE > and end with < /PRE >. Look it up...
